During April 4 to 7, 2018, CWEG, the member
unit of the Sino-German Centre for Water And healTh researCH (WATCH), and the
Development and Assessment Institute in Waste Water Technology at RWTH-Aachen
University (hereinafter referred to as “PIA”), jointly held the Seminar on
Decentralized Rural Wastewater Treatment Technology in Chengdu, China. Through
friendly negotiation, CWEG Chairman Hou Feng and PIA Director Dr. Elmar
Dorgeloh signed the Memorandum of Understanding on jointly building the
decentralized wastewater treatment facility testing and assessment platform in
China.

CWEG
Chairman Hou Feng and PIA Director Dr. Elmar Dorgeloh signed the Memorandum of
Understanding
Acknowledged
by PIA as a mutually-beneficial and win-win cooperation platform for both sides
in China, the platform will equip itself with wastewater treatment facility
testing capability partly by introducing multiple decentralized wastewater
treatment technology quality standards from Europe, the United States and
Japan, and on this basis, help drive the establishment of China’s own
assessment method and quality standard for decentralized wastewater treatment
technology.
During the seminar, Dr. Elmar Dorgeloh and Martina Defrain
- the head of PIA Water Reuse Department, visited CWEG’s Guang’an Underground
WWTP, Guang’an Decentralized Rural Wastewater Treatment Station, and the site
of the Inkstone Washing Pond (located at Deng Xiaoping's hometown) Ecological
Restoration project, etc. They spoke highly of CWEG’s underground WWTP system
and decentralized rural wastewater treatment technology, and were confident
that the both sides can build China’s decentralized wastewater treatment
facility testing and assessment platform into a worldwide exemplar relying on
CWEG’s professional strength.
PIA experts visited the Guang’an Underground
WWTP
